Challenger Program For Residencies Selected
By Two Hospital-Based Residency Programs
Memphis, TN 06/08/04 - Challenger Corporation announced today that
it has been selected to provide clinical training content and management
information reporting for the Emergency Medicine Residency at York Hospital
of York, Pennsylvania, and for the Family Practice Residency at Methodist
Hospital of Gary, Indiana.
A member of the prestigious Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH), York
Hospital is a major clinical site for the Penn State University College
of Medicine. The Hospital is a Level II Regional Trauma Center and manages
over 1,300 trauma patients annually. York Hospital trains up to 30 residents
in the specialty of emergency medicine. With this selection, Challenger
now serves eight emergency medicine residency programs in the United
States and overseas.
A not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system, Methodist Hospital
of Gary serves a wide area of northern Indiana. Methodist Hospital trains
12 residents annually in the specialty of Family Practice. This agreement
represents the second Family Practice residency to be served by Challenger.
Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic
CME media, comprising over 2,400 approved hours of credit. Thousands
of physicians and other clinicians rely on Challenger materials to prepare
for specialty boards exams, re-certification, and continuous competency
testing; to fulfill ongoing CME requirements; and to provide reference
and patient-care decision support. Challenger products are approved
for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with nine prominent
medical schools and three specialty societies.
According to Challenger's Senior Representative for Physicians Services,
Becca Metzger, who negotiated these agreements, "The residencies at
York Hospital and Methodist Hospital of Gary both have strong regional
reputations for high quality and superb training. We are delighted to
be their partners for training the next generation of practicing physicians.
Challenger continues to work hand-in-hand with clinical leaders in acute
and primary care education to meet the requirements of the Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for focused, measurable,
and productive outcomes in the training of young physicians nationwide."
