University of Alabama Medical Center Selects the Challenger Program for ResidenciesTM
Memphis, Tennessee, 08/21/06 - Challenger Corporation announced today that it had been selected by the family medicine residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Huntsville to provide training content and management information reporting for their residency program. UAB Huntsville will make use of Challenger's family medicine core content material, compliance and performance evaluation platform, and statistical evaluation package on behalf of their residents and faculty. With this new institutional relationship, the Challenger Program for Residencies™ client base includes nearly fifty programs in family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, emergency medicine, and internal medicine. The financial terms of the agreement were confidential, but "favorable to both parties," according to Challenger CEO and President, Bob Sweeney, PhD, MS.
Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,800 approved hours of credit. Thousands of physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger serves the educational and training needs of over 400,000 practicing American primary care and hospital-based physicians and nearly 70,000 physician assistants. Challenger products are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with ten medical schools and specialty societies.
According to Challenger Director for Business Development, Becca A. Metzger, who negotiated the agreement, "We are excited to announce our first agreement with the UAB system. Challenger continues to work hand-in-hand with the leaders of acute and primary care education to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for focused, measurable, and productive outcomes in the training of young physicians."
The UAB Huntsville family residency program is under the direction of Allan J. Wilke, MD, MA. Fifteen faculty members and forty residents will be participating in the Challenger program.
