Announcing the Release of Challenger/Rakel® Career for Family Physicians
Memphis, TN 7/25/07 - Memphis-based medical training and education firm, Challenger Corporation, announced today the release of Challenger/Rakel® Career. This unique integrated reference and review program combines two of the foremost family medicine educational products in one synthetic training and reference system. The combined text and testing content enables physicians to train for various testing criteria, recertification, and ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) fulfillment.
The release announced today integrates what most family physicians consider to be the gold standard reference work in their profession, the 7th edition of Robert Rakel's Textbook of Family Medicine, with the newest edition of the most widely used programmed learning and review course in the specialty, Med-Challenger FM Career™. This integrated program contains 66 chapters, over 5,500 specially designed Questions and Answers, and over 5,000 high-quality images and illustrations. According to Challenger CEO Bob Sweeney: "Challenger/Rakel® Career is possibly the most significant training advance in family medicine in the last ten years. The specialty is perpetually searching for integrated reference and training content to fully develop the capabilities of physicians in training and to refresh and enhance the knowledge and skills of those in practice."
Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,800 approved hours of credit. Thousands of physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger serves the educational and training needs of over 400,000 practicing American primary care and hospital-based physicians and nearly 70,000 physician assistants. Challenger products are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with eight medical schools and specialty societies. They are also used for institutional training in over fifty major residency and physician assistant training programs across the United States.
Since its founding in 1991, privately held Challenger has funded growth and product expansion by means of a series of internally directed equity campaigns to its key customers and management team. The firm has also executed three asset acquisitions for stock in the last six years. Challenger plans a new round of equity financing this coming fall to support the rapid growth of its institutional sales business unit.
