Challenger and PACEMD To Train Physicians for Latin Practices

Memphis, TN 09/28/07 - Memphis-based medical training and education firm, Challenger Corporation, announced today the initiation of a joint project with a well-known Mexican educational organization to develop state-of-the-art training materials for rural and small practices in Mexico and Latin America. Challenger is the largest distributor of peer-reviewed electronic content for emergency and family physicians in the United States. PACEMD, based in San Miguel Allende, Mexico, organizes non-profit educational and training ventures to import innovations in clinical training and service delivery for Latin practices. These clinics and emergency departments ould otherwise have neither the resources nor the trained personnel to deploy advanced training and technologies.

According to Haywood Hall, MD, President of PACEMD, and a practicing emergency medicine physician in both the United States and Mexico, "No other content producing firm besides Challenger offers the range of content, flexibility and responsiveness in editing and maintaining clinical quality, and name recognition synonymous with excellence in clinical training. We can be sure that the personnel delivering care in our service areas will be receiving the finest and most current content materials in the course of their training." Dr. Hall is serving as the program clinical coordinator for a team of six expert physicians who are contributing their time and services pro bono to this endeavor. The physician training experts for the PACEMD/Challenger team are: Judith Tintinalli, Ken Iserson, Scott Obenshaine and Beverly Bauman, all based in the United States; and Juan Munoz and Angel Brana in Mexico.

Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,800 approved hours of credit. Thousands of American physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger serves the educational and training needs of over 400,000 practicing American primary care and hospital-based physicians and nearly 70,000 physician assistants. Challenger products are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with six medical schools and specialty societies. They are also used for institutional training in over seventy major residency and physician assistant training programs across the United States.
