Memphis, Tennessee, April 27, 2004 - Memphis-based medical education
software firm, Challenger Corporation, today announced the release of
Med-Challenger OBGYN, a comprehensive course for Boards preparation,
re-certification and reference for the nation's obstetricians and gynecologists.
The new course comes in both a CD-ROM and Internet-delivered format.
It is authored by a prestigious team of physicians, primarily based
at the Harvard Medical School and Mount Sinai Hospital, and is jointly
sponsored with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in
Denver. Larry Rand, MD, from the Mt. Sinai staff, is the Clinical Medical
Editor for the course.
The nation's 40,000 obstetricians and gynecologists undergo a series
of initial and ongoing examinations to secure and maintain Boards certification
and competency. The new Challenger course is the most comprehensive
effort ever mounted to provide a full battery of training content for
all of these test environments. The program integrates clinical text,
images, and over 800 interactive, case-focused questions and answers.
Physicians who complete the course will also be eligible for up to 200
hours of American Medical Association continuing medical education (CME)
credit.
Challenger will also be issuing a version of its new program that is
integrated with the foremost textbook in clinical women's health, Maternal
Fetal Medicine, by Robert Creasy and Robert Resnik. Challenger/Creasy
Resnik, scheduled for release in May, will be the second product
under the unique licensing agreement Challenger holds with Elsevier,
Inc., the world's largest medical publisher, to develop and market combined
reference and review programs.
"This new program establishes Challenger as a formidable competitor
for the educational needs of these specialties," observed Laura Goodman-Bryan,
Challenger's Chief Operating Officer. "The range of competencies covers
all the basics of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as the specialized
requirements of maternal fetal medicine. Med-Challenger OBGYN
now joins our flagship Med-Challenger products in emergency
medicine, family practice and internal medicine as the standard- setting
courses for competency validation and certification in American medicine.
We are projecting a substantial accretive advantage in our revenues
this year as a result."
Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic
continuing medical education (CME) media with over 2,400 approved hours
of credit. Thousands of physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger
material to prepare for specialty Board exams, re-certification, and
continuous competency testing to fulfill ongoing CME requirements, and
to provide reference and patient-care decision support. Challenger products
are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with
several prominent medical schools and specialty societies.
