Challenger Corporation Introduces Training and Performance Reporting to Military

Memphis, TN 11/16/05 - Challenger Corporation announced today that it has successfully contracted for its nationally recognized Challenger Program for ResidenciesTM at its first two military training client sites. The two client locations are the Emergency Medicine Residency at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA, and the Family Medicine Residency at Darnall Army Community Hospital, Ft. Hood, TX. The Challenger program is a unique combination of high-quality peer-reviewed training content and a proprietary management information system. As a result, faculty engaged in training military physicians can offer state-of-the-art curricula from the Challenger library in tandem with immediate feedback on compliance, performance, and remediation. These features permit the client residency programs to validate the effectiveness of training to both the Department of Defense and to the Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), which is responsible for authorizing residencies to function.

With these new clients, Challenger is now the provider of online resident educational training and performance evaluation systems for 35 residency programs in family and emergency medicine, and three other institutions engaged in the training of physician assistants (PAs).

Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,700 approved hours of credit. Thousands of physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger serves the educational and training needs of over 400,000 practicing American primary care and hospital-based physicians and 65,000 practicing physician assistants. Challenger products are approved for physician and PA CME credit through joint sponsorships with prominent medical schools and specialty societies. Challenger also supports military training with substantial discounts on its retail products to active service members.

According to Challenger Senior Manager for Business Development, Becca A. Metzger, who negotiated these agreements, "Our selection by two well-known military training facilities is both an honor and a formal recognition of the power and usefulness of the Challenger approach. Challenger is working hand-in-hand with the leaders of acute and primary care education to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for focused, measurable, and productive outcomes in the training of young physicians."
