Memorial Hermann Selects Challenger Program for ResidenciesTM
Memphis, Tennessee 09/01/04 - Challenger Corporation announced today that it has been selected by Memorial Hermann Hospital System of Houston, Texas, to provide training content and management information reporting for their family practice residency. Memorial Hermann trains 42 residents in the specialty of family practice. With this selection, Challenger is now the provider of online resident educational training and performance evaluation systems for eight prominent family practice residency programs, as well as nine emergency medicine programs, one obstetrics and gynecology program, and one physician assistant training program.
On completion of the agreement, David Bauer, MD, the Family Practice Residency Program Director at Memorial Hermann, described how the Challenger Program for ResidenciesTM is expected to enhance Memorial Hermann's existing training system. "The Memorial Family Practice Residency Program (sponsored by the Memorial Hermann Hospital System) has a mission to provide our residents with cutting-edge technology to both learn and practice Family Medicine. Our recently completed agreement with the Challenger Corporation fits perfectly with that focus. Our residents will now be able to access the extensive content of the Challenger software at the time and place of their choosing. This activity will help provide them with the life-long learning skills they will need throughout their professional career. At the same time, our faculty will for the first time be able to truly monitor and measure the self-study activities of our residents. We are excited to be partnering with Challenger as our residency continues to prepare residents for medicine in the 21st century."
According to Challenger Corporation's Senior Representative for Physician Services, Becca Metzger, who negotiated the agreement, "Memorial Hermann Hospital System's Family Practice Residency Program has a national reputation for high quality and superb training. Moreover, they are leaders in implementing new and exciting technological innovations in order to help better train their residents and assess their progress. It is a great honor to be chosen by Memorial Hermann to assist them in their goal of developing new and improved methods for training the next generation of practicing family physicians. Challenger is working hand-in-hand with Memorial Hermann and other leading institutions to advance the training of young physicians by developing programs that meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and, at the same time, provide measurable results to residency clients."
