Distinguished Expert in Pediatric and Emergency Medicine Joins Challenger Advisory BoardTM

Memphis, Tennessee, 09/26/06 - Challenger Corporation announced today that Martin I. Herman, MD, FACEP, FAAP, has been appointed to the company's Physician Advisory Board. Dr. Herman is a full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. He is also the President of Pediatric Emergency Specialists (PES), a group practice of over twenty experts in emergency and pediatric medicine and nursing. Dr. Herman and his colleagues in PES deliver care at the Methodist LeBonheur Children's Hospital and related facilities in the Memphis area.

Dr. Herman has a longstanding relationship with the founders and management of Challenger Corporation, both as an author and content designer. Several clinicians in PES will be designing new content for Challenger, primarily in the areas of wound treatment procedures and sedation procedures. As an expert in clinical coding, Dr. Herman will be preparing a course in specialized procedural coding for pediatric emergency practitioners. Another colleague will be designing a comprehensive review course for nurse practitioners. These physician and nursing curriculum experts will work hand in hand with other members of the Advisory Board to introduce, peer review, and monitor Challenger's broad library of acute and primary care testing and training materials. The Challenger Physician Advisory Board now has nine members representing emergency medicine, family practice, pathology, anesthesiology, and pediatrics, as well as the physician assistant profession.

Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,800 approved hours of credit. Thousands of physicians and other clinicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger serves the educational and training needs of over 400,000 practicing American primary care and hospital-based physicians and nearly 70,000 physician assistants. Challenger products are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with eight medical schools and specialty societies.

According to Challenger Director for Course Development, Bobby Anderson, "We have built a team of editorial and content development specialists whose range of competencies is truly impressive. Dr. Herman is intimately familiar with the overlapping requirements of pediatrics and emergency medicine. He will serve us particularly strongly in designing our new selection of procedural medicine courses, advising our increasing family of institutional and residency clients, and advising us in the rollout of our integrated textbook and review courses with Elsevier, Inc. We are delighted to be able to call upon his expertise and that of his colleagues."

Pediatric Emergency Specialists provides physician and nurse practitioner coverage at three facilities in the Memphis area. The membership includes several nationally recognized academic experts in pediatrics and emergency medicine and is the largest organization of its kind in the Southeastern United States. LeBonheur Children's Medical Center is one of the top ten specialty children's hospitals in the world, and is part of the regionally diversified and comprehensive Methodist Health Care System.
