Challenger Selected for Major Medical Group's Doctor's Day Event
Memphis, Tennessee, 05/06 - Challenger Corporation announced today that it had been selected by Canton, Ohio, based EMP Management Group, Ltd., to provide courses to its physicians as part of its annual Doctor's Day event. As part of the 2006 event, EMP gave its physicians the choice to receive one of five selected Challenger products or other gift options. One-hundred and forty members decided to accept the offer of a Challenger course as their gift. The most popular course chosen was the Challenger Acute Care Radiology series, a newly updated course that teaches primary care and emergency physicians to quickly diagnose the entire spectrum of problems recognizable on radiographs and other scanned sources. Other courses chosen by the group included Derm-Challenger: Case Studies and Images for Primary and Acute Care Physicians, Challenger ECG Cases: Basic Electrocardiography Case Studies, Quiz and Atlas, Challenger Toxicology: Fundamentals, Quiz and Atlas, and Challenger EM Psych: Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Emotional and Behavioral Presentations. The agreement provides both online and offline versions of the software to the physicians, including between 20 and 40 hours of CME per course.
Established in 1992, EMP is one of the leading providers of emergency medical services in the nation. The company recruits only emergency medicine residency trained, board-certified physicians to practice in its client locations. EMP has a nationwide reputation among hospitals, professional associations and physicians for quality of care and patient satisfaction. EMP began with one hospital partner in 1992; currently the company staffs 34 locations in eight states. EMP also provides management services to Emergency Physicians Management Group in California, which staffs 20 locations in three states. EMP Chief Executive Officer, Dominic J. Bagnoli, MD, FACEP, FAEEM observed that EMP is highly selective in its choice of educational and service partners. "Challenger Corporation, as with EMP, is a 'best practices' representative in its industry, the creation and distribution of the highest quality peer-reviewed training and testing materials for physicians, physician assistants, and the teaching institutions where these professionals are trained. For that reason, it was an appropriate choice to offer Challenger courses to our practicing physician membership."
According to Becca Metzger, Challenger Director of Business Development, who negotiated the agreement, "Along with our recently announced agreement with the government of Canada for physician assistant training, the agreement with EMP exemplifies a creative way in which even a very large organization can utilize Challenger's gold-standard educational materials for their clientele. We are very pleased to partner with EMP and look forward to a mutually beneficial ongoing relationship between the organizations."
Challenger owns the world's largest collection of approved electronic CME media, comprising over 3,700 approved hours of credit. Thousands of physicians rely upon Challenger materials to prepare for specialty board exams, recertification, maintenance of certification, and lifelong learning. Challenger products are approved for physician CME credit through joint sponsorships with nine medical schools and specialty societies. Challenger currently has over forty institutional residency clients that utilize Challenger's learning materials to educate, train, and validate the clinicians of tomorrow.
