Question:
A five-year-old recent immigrant from Latin America presents to the Emergency Department after having his first seizure. The patient reports no prior medical problems except for an appendectomy six months prior. An uncontrasted (left) and contrasted (right) CT scan of his brain is shown.
The most likely cause of this patient's seizure is due to which of the following?
- That he is serving as an intermediate host of Tinea saginata, the beef tapeworm.
- A primary brain tumor.
- That he is serving as an intermediate host of Tinea solium, the pork tapeworm.
- Toxoplasmosis.
- A metastatic lesion.
