Memphis, TN 1/12/09 - Health Choice, the largest physician health care organization (PHO) in western Tennessee, has selected Challenger Corporation to provide state-of-the-art testing and career training resources for physician members of its physician affiliate, Metro Care. Health Choice and Metro Care represent over 1,250 physicians practicing at seven hospitals and other facilities affiliated with the Methodist LeBonheur Health Care system.
According to Bill Breen, Health Choice CEO, "The new agreement with Challenger offers a cost effective means by which our physician members can gain ongoing access to a high quality education and training resource. As part of this arrangement, Challenger will customize the presentation of their content and assessment resources to complement our current web platform. Physicians can easily logon anytime, anywhere to use these materials, and the results are maintained and reported to the appropriate certification, CME and institutional bodies. There is no comparable combined education and management information system of its kind."
Online education is far more convenient, secure and reliable, as well as less costly, than travel-based alternatives. Bob Sweeney, CEO and Board Member of Challenger, observes that: "Physicians are ever more concerned with the demands on their time and income. At the same time, many of these professionals are disillusioned with the content and training opportunities presented by industry, which they view as biased or self-serving. Immediate access world wide to an online curriculum of peer-reviewed content, developed and maintained by uncompromised clinical experts, is a rare and valuable resource. At the same time, our robust reporting and measurement system permits physicians to identify areas for practice improvement, train on their own time and budget, avoid practice outages, and designate where and when to fulfill specialty, state, and hospital education and certification requirements. We are most delighted to serve our physician colleagues in the Health Choice program."
